Ever see a band who sounds great on their albums/EPs, but can’t actually play on a stage worth a rat’s ass? Better yet, ever seen a band who’s amazingly crunk live, but falls to pieces in the studio. After buying Jotto’s debut EP last week (I know buying music, who still does that) I realized they were one of the latter. The low-moaned-lyrics give this band an incredible emotional intensity and earthy-rawness on stage. When listening to the CD though, you wonder if it wasn’t a drunk guy blabbering into a microphone. Jotto live is what The Strokes tried to do with their last album, but didn’t. If they ever chance outside of Philly-NYC-Jersey to your hometown, do go see them.

Saturday Looks Good to Me aren’t particularly new, but they played a fantastic show alongside Jotto. Their most recent album keeps much of the lyrical beauty (albeit slightly more melancholy?)
